This autumn Quarter has seen Wrawby Methodists carrying out quite a of outreach in the church and community.
In September, we held our harvest festival for the village led by the Methodists in St Marys Church. For a bit of something new it was decided to ask everyone in the village and the school who wanted to donate if they would bring a tin of something so that we could build a train of tins running from the altar, down the steps and along the aisle to the font at the back of the church! We didn’t count the tins, but there were lots of them and the train of tins looked splendid!
The tins have been shared between Oikos foodbank and Harbour Place in Grimsby which is a homeless shelter.

A second part of our outreach for harvest is closer to home in the village itself. Harvest bags were made up for people who could not make it to church for whatever reason, which were delivered to them at home the following week. The bags contained soup, homemade muffins, cheese snacks, chocolate and fruit. The bag itself was decorated with a harvest hymn.
The other lovely activity that has been happening at the Church led by the Methodists is “Hymns and Cakes” the last Sunday of the month at 6pm, there is a special service which as the name suggests focuses on favourite hymns chosen by attendees and lots of scones and cakes. We are delighted to be visited by congregations from other chapels, people from the village who both do and don’t attend a service regularly, and everyone who wants to come along for a half hour sing followed by tea and cakes. Everyone is welcome and our numbers keep swelling (no that’s not due to eating cakes!) as everyone has a catch up with friends old and new and a jolly good sing. We don’t have a sermon or take a collection but ask for a small donation for tea and cakes. This quarter we have been able to send £65 to the Alzheimer’s society, £65 to the British Legion Poppy appeal and £ 65 each to the Methodist Church and to St Mary’s Anglican Churches
